Little hands, hearty meals and happy tummies

Hektar Asset Management Sdn Bhd, the Manager of Hektar Real Estate Investment Trust (“Hektar REIT”), has contributed RM10,000 to Dignity for Children Foundation Malaysia (“Dignity”) in conjunction with World Food Day, supporting access to nutritious daily meals for 100 underprivileged children throughout October 2026. The initiative recognises the importance of proper nutrition in supporting children's learning, development and overall well-being, particularly among those from marginalised communities.

Through Dignity's Daily Meals Programme, each child receives a balanced main meal and a snack every school day, from Monday to Friday, both freshly prepared at the school's on-site kitchen. Main meals follow a rotating, child-friendly menu designed with dietary wellness in mind, featuring dishes such as chicken fried rice, protein-rich dhal curry and local favourites such as nasi lemak. Midday snacks include milk, fresh fruit and biscuits.

Beyond addressing immediate nutritional needs, the programme plays a supporting role in children's educational development. Access to consistent, nutritious meals helps children maintain their energy and concentration throughout the school day, reducing hunger-related distractions and allowing them to participate more actively in classroom learning.

A little teamwork goes a long way in delivering warm meals

Hektar REIT has consistently supported community-focused initiatives, particularly those benefiting children and families. Recognising the important role its properties play within their respective communities, Hektar REIT remains committed to extending its contributions beyond its core business operations to support social well-being. Its collaboration with Dignity for Children Foundation reflects this commitment, bringing together efforts to address children's nutritional needs while supporting their education and development.

Established in 1988, Dignity is a non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of marginalised and underprivileged children through education and holistic development. Recognising that education extends beyond the classroom, Dignity supports children's development through academic education, vocational exposure, life skills training, personal development, healthcare and nutrition. These programmes aim to equip children with the knowledge, skills and confidence to pursue better opportunities and break the cycle of poverty.

By supporting Dignity's Daily Meals Programme, Hektar REIT contributes to the foundation's broader mission of creating a nurturing learning environment where children can focus on their education and personal growth without the added burden of food insecurity.

This initiative aligns with three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”): SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

Sabrina Halim, Chief Operating Officer of Hektar Asset Management, said, “Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and reach their full potential, and access to proper nutrition plays an important role in making that possible. Through our collaboration with Dignity, we hope to contribute towards creating a supportive environment where children can focus on their education and development while receiving the daily nourishment they need.”

She added, “Dignity's work in providing education and holistic development opportunities to underprivileged children reflects the importance of addressing both immediate needs and long-term opportunities. At Hektar REIT, we believe that meaningful community initiatives should go beyond providing short-term assistance by contributing towards lasting positive outcomes. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote inclusive and resilient communities.”
